We were asked to turn a rotating storage system frame idea into an eye-catching and functional design. The wardrobe storage can be opened by rotating the front half of the unit around behind the back half, revealing the inside. The design has both hanging and shelf space, and the units interior design reflects a fruits core.
The frames can be customised by a buyer specifying the colour of the fins. The shape of the product can be developed into a range by the client simply altering the shape of the outer fins; without re-designing the inner core mechanism. We helped take this product from a design on paper through to prototyping and pre-production.
This design is being registered with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and is in the pre-production phase.
We developed a smaller version of the bedroom pod, utilising a number of the same parts. The unit opens by rotating the smaller side into the larger side. The ‘cherry’ styled storage pod has an adjustable shelf or more than one shelf inside, depending on usage.
The shape of the unit can be adjusted by simply altering the shape of the outer fins and altering the positions of the bearing hubs on the central pole. The inner core mechanism can be made from the same parts as the bedroom unit and helps reduce manufacturing costs. Again, we helped take this product from a design on paper through to prototyping and pre-production.
